Indiana Robocall and Telemarketing Complaints

Indiana residents can report illegal telemarketing calls, robocalls and robotexts to the Indiana Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division online or by phone at (800) 382-5516, and can also sign up for the state's own do-not-call list.

Complaint rules

What to include in a complaint
Date and time of each call or text; the caller ID number exactly as shown (a screenshot helps); the company, seller or caller name given; what was offered; whether it was a prerecorded or artificial voice; any voicemail, recording or text; the date your number was put on the do-not-call list; and any earlier request you made to stop calling.
Deadlines and limitations
Private lawsuit limitation period (per TCPA.com research): 2 years for Deceptive Consumer Sales Act private actions (and for Attorney General actions under art. 24-4.7). Complaint deadlines at the agency: none stated unless noted.
How to register
Free at indonotcall.org or 1.888.834.9969; no need to re-register unless your number or address changes.
Private right of action
Limited No private damages for state do-not-call or Autodialer Law violations. The Deceptive Consumer Sales Act allows actual damages or $500 for a supplier's TCPA violation, after notice and a chance to cure; the caller ID spoofing law allows actual damages, costs and fees.
