Alabama Robocall and Telemarketing Complaints

Alabama residents can report illegal telemarketing calls, robocalls and robotexts to the Office of the Alabama Attorney General online or by phone at 1-800-392-5658 (Consumer Hotline), and should register with the National Do Not Call Registry.

Complaint rules

What to include in a complaint
Date and time of each call or text; the caller ID number exactly as shown (a screenshot helps); the company, seller or caller name given; what was offered; whether it was a prerecorded or artificial voice; any voicemail, recording or text; the date your number was put on the do-not-call list; and any earlier request you made to stop calling.
Deadlines and limitations
Private lawsuit limitation period (per TCPA.com research): 2 years for the do-not-call private action (Ala. Code § 8-19C-9). Complaint deadlines at the agency: none stated unless noted.
How to register
Register through the National Do Not Call Registry at donotcall.gov or 1-888-382-1222, as directed by the Alabama PSC.
Private right of action
Yes Up to $2,000 per knowing do-not-call violation after more than one call in 12 months (Ala. Code § 8-19C-7); due care defense.
